Day 10
- Freemantle walking tour
This morning make your way on the local train to Freemantle to join
your Two Feet and A Heartbeat Walking Tours at Fremantle Visitor
Information Centre, on High street to commence a 2 Hour Fremantle
Urban Adventure Tour. Fremantle is Perth's hip and historical
cousin, just 30 minutes from the city. The streets are lined with
beautiful heritage buildings and filled with boutique shops, cafes
and local products. Starting at the Fremantle Town Hall, a short
train ride from downtown Perth, this Fremantle walking tour is no
boring history lesson, but rather takes a non-traditional route,
discovering the factual, anecdotal, and downright fascinating, all
as you wander Freo's vibrant cappuccino strip, boat harbors and
beyond. Renowned for its well-preserved architectural heritage,
including colonial buildings and one of the most notorious prisons
in the British Empire, Fremantle Prison, the locals here were as
hard as nails; salty sea dogs who rubbed shoulders with
newly-arrived immigrants to create a city full of characters some
of whose stories you'll be amazed to hear from your local guide!
Once home to whaling stations and mass immigration, Freo is now a
charming little city which is celebrated for its variety of
restaurants and multicultural history. On this Fremantle tour in
Perth, you'll hear of so many local stories, such as Irish
prisoners escaping, comical British bushrangers, Freo's impact as a
port during World War II, and the shameful expulsion of aboriginals
to Rottnest Island.
At the conclusion of your tour consider making a trip to the Freemantle Brewery - Grab a Pale Ale & a pizza and soak in the brewery atmosphere or wander out into the backyard and enjoy your beer and nosh in the sunshine. Not sure what style of beer is for you? Come hang in the Brewhouse and take a walk through the range of beers guided by a certified Hophead.
Board the Captain Cook cruise back to Perth - Take in the wonderful sights that can only be viewed from the river. Relax in air-conditioned comfort to take a stroll out on the spacious open decks. Unlimited tea and coffee is served as your Captain points out all the sights including the restored Swan Brewery, Kings Park, Royal Perth Yacht Club, the magnificent homes overlooking the water and Fremantle’s busy harbor.

Desert Discovery Interpretive Centre, then drive into the Pinnacles
Desert and travel the four-kilometer trail for a unique experience

ruin. After lunch at Cervantes, visit Thirsty Point to see pristine
white beaches and sparkling aquamarine waters of the Indian Ocean.
Go for a walk along the beach. Enjoy a visit to Lake Thetis to view
Stromatolites, which are one of the earliest forms of life to
evolve on our planet another of nature's wonders.
Day 12
- Rottnest Island Experience

tour. Board your vessel to commence a Rottnest Grand Island Package

must-see locations including the Wadjemup Lighthouse, Henrietta
Rocks, Oliver Hill Gun Fortification and Tunnels, and the majestic
lookout point at the rugged Cathedral Rocks and Cape Vlamingh - all
ending in a unique historical train ride. All major habitats are
covered on this amazing tour, including Rottnest's cultural and
historical heritage ranging from Maritime and Military history
right up to future developments.
Rottnest Island is lined with 83 of the most beautiful bays and beaches you will ever see, but what it’s really known for is being home to the happiest animal in the world. Quokkas are small marsupials, much like a very tiny kangaroo. Thousands of quokkas call Rottnest their island home and pose for the perfect picture. You’ll also spot dolphins and seals year-round, plus humpback whales from September to December.
The best way to see Rottnest is by bike – there are no cars on the island. It’s the perfect day trip from Perth and don’t forget a #QuokkaSelfie is free!
