I am originally from Columbus, Ohio but I am a bit of a nomad. I have also lived in: Christchurch, New Zealand; Canberra, Australia; Siem Reap, Cambodia; Bangkok, Thailand; Luang Prabang, Laos; and Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam.
My first memory of travel
Hopping into the back of my parents’ car for a three-week-long roadtrip across the US to Colorado. Playing in the snow in summer at Glacier National Park, helping my dad set up the tent, seeing how big the Grand Canyon really is.
My first trip abroad
My first trip abroad was to London and France when I was thirteen. I loved seeing the old castles along the Loire in France – it was like something out a fairy tale!
New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Laos.
My favorite place to travel
I love travelling to New Zealand – the landscape is unbelievable and the people are among the friendliest I’ve met. An added plus is you can find great coffee everywhere! I also have a soft spot for Thailand – the culture and history of the place is so rich.
My dream vacation
At the moment is to Patagonia in Chile/Argentina. I am an outdoor enthusiast and would love to hike around the region.
My ultimate survival bag for international flights
A mini toothbrush, an eye mask, comfortable slippers, dry shampoo, and face wipes so I feel like a person after the flight.
My travel tips to make a long flight seem not quite as
Binge watch all the movies you were meaning to see while enjoying a glass of wine (or two). Try not to sleep right before you catch an international flight- that way you will become naturally tired when you are on the flight.
My favorite destination we sell
It’s a tough call, but I would have to say Queenstown, New Zealand and nearby Milford Sound. The landscape is stunning – high alpine peaks, pristine glacial lakes, and, best of all, you can see penguins at Milford Sound!
My best travel advice
Go with the flow – no trip will ever go perfectly as planned. Embrace the chaos and unexpectedness that comes along with international travel. Don’t be afraid to try new things, whether it is new food or new experiences. Keep an open mind.
If I weren't in the travel industry, I would be busy
making a living doing
Probably teaching or writing for a newspaper- I used to study journalism and write for a local paper.
I fell in love with travel
The first time I went abroad. I love seeing how similar yet different the lifestyles of people around the world are.
What I love most about my job
Hearing about the fantastic experiences clients had on their trip when they return.
My happy place
Anywhere where my family (including my adorable Scottie dog Watson) is.
My favorite travel companion
My mother – she is one of the most adventurous and easy-going people I have travelled with.
I'd love to take a trip with
Anthony Bourdain, the celebrity chef. I have a feeling he would always find the best restaurants and there would never be a dull moment.
What I do when I’m not at work:
Travel! Even over the weekend I love to go to nearby places like Cape Cod or Rhode Island with friends on a mini-road trip. When I’m not travelling, I’m hitting the New York salsa-dancing scene, cycling, playing tennis or watching rugby. Go All Blacks!
