Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrive Auckland
Welcome to Auckland. This afternoon we suggest a city sightseeing tour with Great Sights.
Day 2 - Auckland/Waitomo/Rotorua
(226 miles) (lunch and dinner included) (optional meal plans begin today) Today travel to the Waitomo Caves for a guided tour of the famous Glowworm Grotto. Continue on to Rotorua for a Maori Hangi (feast) and Concert.
Day 3 - Rotorua Sightseeing
Experience the many varied sights that Rotorua has to offer. Visit Te Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve and Te Puia, before traveling to Rainbow Springs and
Agrodome Farm Show. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure.
Day 4 - Rotorua/Wellington
(Flight not included) Fly to Wellington, New Zealand's capital. The rest of
the days is at leisure. Make time to visit 'Te Papa', the museum of
New Zealand.
Day 5 - Wellington/Ferry/TranzCoastal/Christchurch
(212 miles, including ferry crossing) Travel on the Interislander ferry across Cook Strait to Picton. Join the TranzCoastal train (Seat-in-Coach only) to Christchurch, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Day 6 - Christchurch Sightseeeing
A day at leisure to enjoy the 'Garden City'
Day 7 - Christchurch/Mount Cook/Dunedin
(369 miles/593 kms) Today travel by coach through the MAckenzie country and view Lake Tekapo, Aoraki-Mount Cook National Park. Continue onto Dunedin
Day 8 - Dunedin/Tairei Gorge Railway/Queenstown
(176 miles/283 kms) Board the Tairei Gorge train and enjoy the rugged, unspoilt landscape and the opportunity for sightseeing stops. Experience the breathtaking views of this historic journey to Pukerangi where you will continue your journey to Queenstown
Ooption: Additional day in Dunedin for touring.
Day 9 - Milford Sound Day Excursion
Travel by coach along the shores of Lake Wakatipu to Te Anau. From the Homer Tunnel emerge into the Cleddau Valley. Join your Milford Sound Red Boat Cruise for an unforgettable experience. Return to Queenstown.
Day 10 - Queenstown
A day at leisure to enjoy the many activities on offer.
Day 11 - Queenstown/Franz Josef
(251 miles) Travel north today via Lakes Wanaka and Hawea. Enjoy the West Coast scenery through the Haast Pass and continue on to Franz Josef Village.
Day 10 - Franz Josef/TranzAlpine/Christchurch
(249 miles) Travel to Greymouth and board the scenic TranzAlpine train (Seat-in-Coach only). Travel across the Canterbury Plains to Christchurch.
