Day 1 - Depart Los Angeles to Cairns (via Sydney or Brisbane)

Day 2 - Cross International Date Line

Day 3 - Arrive Cairns
Upon arrival you will be transferred by shuttle to Cairns Wharf. Your Green Island experience begins with a 45 minutes cruise from Cairns aboard Great Adventures. Once you disembark the boat you will be greeted by one of our resort team, who will introduce you to the island and take you on a short tour before checking into your suite. Porters will deliver your luggage to your room.

ACCOMMODATION - With just 46 suites nestled amongst the rainforest and secluded from the day visitor facilities, Green Island Resort offers a unique blend of stylish and luxurious accommodation, first class service and unparalleled access to the Great Barrier Reef. Your stay can be as relaxing or as active as you choose. Experience the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef on your doorstep with scuba diving and snorkeling, indulge in rejuvenating massage treatments in the Day Spa, or simply relax on a deck chair on the soft coral sand beach or by the private pool.

Days 4 - 5 - Green Island
Relax and explore Green Island

  • Daytime
    A wide range of complimentary activities are included in your stay. These include snorkelling, glass bottom boat tour, most non-motorised beach equipment and a host of guided activities with our resident Activities officer. At additional cost you parasail, have an olided massges, entrance to Marineland Melanesia, take a reef helicopter tour, introductory and certified diving and seawalker.
  • After Dusk
    After dusk when all the day visitors go home, Green Island is yours. Take in the islands tranquility and join the resident Activities Officer for these great activities exclusive to resort guests including island walks, sunset drinks, fish feeding and star gazing.

Day 6 - Green Island - Port Douglas
Relax on the 45 minutes cruise back to Cairns aboard Great Adventures. Upon arrival at Cairns wharf, seat in coach transfer to Port Douglas

ACCOMMODATION - Arrive at Shantara Resort Port Douglas and be greeted by the relaxed and tranquil environment. The courtyard’s two lagoon style swimming pools cleverly encircle the apartment courtyard to provide ground level apartments with poolside access. Shantara is an Adults only retreat with Boutique Holiday Apartments suited for couples or the independent traveler looking for tranquility. The studio rooms have kitchenettes and are perfect for the shorter stay, all rooms have an outdoor balcony facing one of the pools.

Day 7 - Great Barrier Reef Day Tour
Travelaboard Silversonic, a 29 metre luxury catamaran custom designed for small groups of adventure minded people to revel in the thrill of diving and snorkeling. With over five hours to explore the delights of this underwater world, snorkelers can explore 3 different outer reef locations at Agincourt Reef, on the very outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef. Snorkel briefs at each site and a guided free snorkel tour are included in your day. Enjoy lunch onboard. Silversonic features a state-of-the-art ride control system for a super smooth journey, a submerged platform for easy water access, hot freshwater showers, change rooms, air conditioned lounges and a licensed bar.

Day 8 - Dreamtime Gorge Walk
You are welcomed with a traditional 'smoking' ceremony that cleanses and wards off bad spirits. The walk then meanders through stunning rainforest and takes in traditional huts or humpies. Your experienced interpretive Indigenous guide demonstrates traditional plant use, identifies bush food sources and provides an enchanting narrative of the rainforest and their special relationship with this unique tropical environment. A stop at 'the beach' where your guide demonstrates traditions like making bush soaps and ochre painting. At the end of the tour enjoy traditional bush tea and damper.

Day 9 - Port Douglas
Explore Tropical North Queensland at your leisure or consider adding one of our tour options - Some of our favorites (additional cost applies) :

  • Daintree Rainforest & Cape Tribulation
    Travel north along the scenic coastal road, crossing the Daintree River for a morning tea stop at the Daintree Discovery Centre. Take a guided boardwalk through the rainforest before continuing to Cape Tribulation Beach where time is allowed for a beach walk or to relax in a tranquil setting. Enjoy a delicious lunch in a rainforest setting. A stop is then made at the Alexandra Lookout for panoramic views out to sea and the mouth of the Daintree river, followed by a cruise to observe the fauna and flora of this region.
  • Kuranda Scenic Rail & SkyRail
    Enjoy a full day Kuranda, Scenic Rail and Skyrail Tour. Board the Kuranda Scenic Railway for a breathtaking journey on one of the world's most scenic train routes. The journey will take you through hand-hewn tunnels and across bridges with amazing views. Stop at Barron Gorge to view the Falls before arriving at beautiful Kuranda station. Your Kuranda Boarding Pass offers discounted entry into Birdworld, Kuranda Koala Gardens, The Australian Butterfly Sanctuary and Rainforestation as well as a detailed map of Kuranda - the Village in the Rainforest. At the scheduled time, bypass the ticketing lines and go directly to the Skyrail boarding area, to board Skyrail for the world's most beautiful rainforest experience. Glide over the Rainforest canopy and take advantage of the two stops enroute to enjoy a walk through the rainforest or visit the CSIRO Interpretive Centre.
  • Wildlife Habitat
    The award-winning Wildlife Habitat is Australia’s leading immersion exhibit - an open and interactive environment for guests and animals to mingle in a spacious and natural setting. Visitors wander along elevated boardwalks, observing up close a huge range of flora and fauna as birds fly and roam freely. The original Breakfast with the Birds has been a visitor must do for two decades. Guests are immersed within the Wetlands environment whilst enjoying the cacophony of sounds and colors of Wildlife as they wander freely amongst the guests and are treated to a fantastic tropical breakfast buffet.

Day 10 - Depart Cairns for US or onward destination
This morning you will be transferred to Cairns airport for your flight to Los Angeles via Brisbane or Sydney - OR your next destination within Australia.
