Queenstown - Winter Festival - Late June/Early July
One of the largest winter festivals in the world and in recent years has become known as “The Southern Hemisphere’s Ultimate Winter Party”. Includes jet boating, mountain biking, multi-sporting and snow-man making, artists painting, birdmen flying, splash for cash and ice hockey madness. Drag racing, pet parading, big air jumping and dogs downhill racing (And that’s just during the day!). Then added street parties, fireworks, live concerts, glitzy balls, comedy, theatre and a host of variety shows and non-stop live entertainment all over town.

Rugby Union - February thru August
Rugby is a religion in New Zealand - Club, provisional and international fixtures are combined throughout the rugby union season.  Super 14 Rugby consists of five teams from New Zealand, five from South Africa and four from Australia - and each team plays all the other teams once during the yearly tournament. Tri Nations rugby sees Australia, New Zealand and South African national sides compete on a home and away format. The national team "the all Blacks" are the most famous sportsmen in the country and the "haka" they perform before each match is legendary.

Wellington - Montana World of WearableArt Awards - September
The WOW® Awards show selects around 150 garment entries designed by a national and international array of artists, designers and inventors and celebrates them in a totally unique environment. Auckland - Ellerslie Flower Show - November
The Ellerslie International Flower Show is an extravaganza of colour, design and entertainment – but is also much more than that. As an internationally renowned brand, it annually attracts significant media interest from all over the world. Nationally, more than half of our visitors attending the Show come from outside of greater Auckland - evidence of its unique appeal.

The 13th consecutive World Buskers Festival. Everything you know and love … plus more. In store is another 11 nights, 10 days, crammed with non-stop fun and excitement. Expect organized pandemonium, spectacular performances and oodles of great times from more than 50 artists (35 acts).

Christchurch - Speight’s Coast to Coast - Feb 9, 2007
The Speight's Coast to Coast traverses the South Island of New Zealand from Kumara Beach on the Tasman Sea to Sumner Beach on the Pacific Ocean. In either two days or the elite one day event competitor’s cycle 140kms in three stages, cross the Southern Alps in a 36km mountain run and kayak 67kms of grade two Waimakariri River through the Grand Canyon of New Zealand, the Waimakariri Gorge.

Marlborough - The Wine Marlborough Festival February 2007 
The Wine Marlborough Festival is New Zealand’s premier Wine and Food event. Experience the highly acclaimed wines of the region and indulge in the culinary delights of the local chefs; The stunning line-up of New Zealand’s leading performers will keep you entertained throughout the day. Take the opportunity to meet some of New Zealand’s leading winemakers during wine tutorials and discover the culinary secrets of the guest chefs. The festival will showcase over 200 wines from over 40 wineries.

Wanaka - Festival of Colour - April 
The Southern Lakes Festival of Colour is a biennial celebration of the arts set against the spectacular backdrop of New Zealand’s Lake Wanaka in autumn. With inspiring performances of theatre, dance, music and cuisine from local, national and international acts, the Festival also showcases the work of some of New Zealand’s pre-eminent writers, artists and photographers. Wanaka is the hub of the Festival with some shows touring to Cromwell, Tarras, Hawea, Luggate, Bannockburn and Arrowtown. The themes of colour and the environment weave through the Festival, making the most of the surrounding dramatic autumnal landscape.

Arrowtown - Autumn Festival - April
Arrowtown, born of gold in 1862, was once a thriving gold mining town. Arrowtown today still reflects the rich heritage of its beginnings. The festival joins artists, authors, old timers, children and revelers. Taste , explore, interact. See shows and be entertained by the world renown Miners Band and the Buckingham Belles to name a few. The wine and food of this district are plentiful, the hills and trails offer 4WD, walking and mountain biking options for all ages.
